Borate treatments do have some deterrent effect on wood destroying insects, including termites, but OBW does not present preventive wood treatment as a substitute for termite protection. Termite prevention and monitoring is the role of a licensed pest control company with soil treatments, bait stations, and ongoing inspection programs specific to that purpose.
