The Drainage System Types OBW Installs
- Interior perimeter drainage, the primary method for water entering through the wall, the floor-wall joint, or upward through the floor itself. A channel runs along the inside of the foundation wall, capturing water and routing it to a sump pump.
- Surface drains, for water that never gets inside at all, intercepting it at ground level where a low spot or poor grading collects it, before it reaches the foundation.
- Drainage matting, a raised, channeled underlayment used beneath a vapor barrier in crawl spaces where minor moisture seeps across the floor surface rather than pooling at a single point, giving that moisture a path to the drainage system instead of trapping it under the liner.
Most active water problems are solved with interior perimeter drainage alone. Surface drains and drainage matting are added when our inspection finds a specific condition, exterior pooling or sheet moisture beneath the liner, that interior drainage on its own wouldn't catch.
